XM70 AUTOMATIC HARDNESS TESTER

The result of an ongoing collaboration

We developed the XM70 in collaboration with leading heat treatment companies, which is why it is particularly suitable for tempering, nitriding, case hardening (CHD) and coating treatment testing.

The result of such active collaboration, the XM70 automatic hardness tester has been designed to:

  • Perform single and multiple tests on all ferrous and non-ferrous materials such as aluminium, steel, cast iron and alloys.
  • Comply in every detail with all international reference standards - including ISO 6506, ISO 6507, ISO 4545, ASTM E10, ASTM E92, ASTM E384 - for the execution of Vickers tests (both micro and macro), as well as Knoop and Brinell hardness tests.
  • Feature state of the art accessories, such as a specially designed optical system, which in the most advanced version also includes a laser and a panoramic lens. The Vickers XM70 hardness tester can also be interfaced with anthropomorphic robots for the automated handling of test samples.

Vickers hardness tester with excellent performance

  • Automatic focusing and hardness calculation
  • Z-axis with 6 positions and motorised turret  that can be customised with lenses and indenters of your choice
  • Manual movement of the test sample, or via XY tables with 1 µm resolution
  • Advanced lens focusing system for accurate Vickers test cycles even in case of vibrations
  • Patented L.I.S.A Laser Centring System (Laser Indicator System Axiotek)
  • Range of measurable forces: 10gf to 50kgf
  • Automatic hardness tester configurable in 3 different solutions

With this configuration, the XM70 can perform Vickers test cycles even under extreme conditions.

See for yourself: we simulated extensive vibration levels by forcefully moving the support table of the automatic hardness tester. The automatic indentation size detection is not affected by the continuous movement.

Proprietary software Made in Induno Olona

All our software is designed and installed by our computer and electronics engineers.

This is why, when we collaborate with research institutes or companies – in this specific case heat treatment facilities -,  the integration and programming of new interactive test cycle management functions are constantly ongoing activities

Among the most important are:

Standardised welding tests: to determine the hardness values of the base material, the heat altered zone (HAZ) and the filler material according to ISO 9015 and ISO 22826.

Automatic scanning of the test surface: allows an overview of the individual sample and the entire specimen holder, making it easier to identify the best way to complete the Vickers test.

CAD system: free drawing on the test surface, allowing the creation of orientation geometries for the execution and reading of the indentation.

Detailed setup of patterns: before running a multiple test, define the number of total indentations and match each one with the preferred scale.

Dynamic anti-collision system: for fully safe and assisted emergency stop

Privacy and security in data sharing: the hardness values can be exported in extremely detailed reports that can be linked directly with your company ERP and exported in any format you want.
